Hell Bent For Salmon
Winter birding around Mt. Baker ends with the departure of migratory Bald Eagles (some stay all year and do not migrate) from the Nooksack lowlands in late February and is closely followed by spring birding that begins with the arrival of birds such as Rufous Hummingbirds in early March.

Snowshoeing Sourdough & other winter trails
Bright, crisp, sunny days are hard to come by during the winter, especially when they are timed on a weekend, but I managed to be blessed with such a day. I decided to take advantage of the moment and hit the trail with my husband on Sourdough Mountain.

Death on the mountain
It was April 18, 2006, when Glacier resident Elijah Lee, 32, and his brother Tobias, 25, set out into the Mt. Baker Wilderness in what was to be just another day of back-country skiing.
