| A
little bit of paradise
The new Paradise Market has replaced almost all of what
was the Gofor Market in Kendall. The gas station and
market at 6476 Mt. Baker Highway was in desperate need
of structural and safety updates, as well as a site cleanup.
Key Point Properties, the company that acquired the building
and the site in February has plans to remodeled the store
and added a new 1,000-square foot Subway franchise store,
scheduled to open in July, said Lorelei Henrickson the store
manager there.
Local construction crews removed more than 6,000 cubic feet
of dirt below the sub floor to install supports that brought
the building to code, and removed truckloads of garbage from
the rear of the site, Henrickson said.
“Nothing here is like it was,” she said. “There
isn’t a wall here that hasn’t been rebuilt.”
The original building was built in the early 1800s from lumber
cut on-site and Henrickson said she was glad the new owners
decided to preserve the heritage of the building rather than
tearing it down.
Customers can expect to see 24-hour gas pumps, high-speed
wireless internet, an outdoor seating area, and an expanded
selection of groceries.
