Saturday June 27 – Goat Mountain Hike: Strenuous hike on a steep trail, elevation gain 2,550 feet, 7.25 miles roundtrip. The trail starts in thick forest and immediately winds upward, entering the Mt. Baker Wilderness at approximately 1.75 miles. The forest is replaced with low-lying blueberry bushes and alpine meadows. Eat lunch at the knoll at approximately 3.75 miles while enjoying the spectacular views of Mt. Sefrit, Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker, bring bug repellent just in case. We will leave Sunnyland School south side parking lot promptly at 8:30 am and carpool from there to Maple Fuels. We will be traveling on a gravel Forest Service road for 2.4 miles. Suggested carpool fee for riders – $5.00. A National Forest or National Park Pass required.
