Fun times with Teton Gravity Research

As they usually do when TGR rolls through town, things got rowdy at the Way of Life premiere at Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham October 17.

Way of Life is TGR's 2013 ski film, featuring insane skiing from the best athletes in the sport, including Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Ian McIntosh, Sammy Carlson, Dylan Hood, Tim Durtschi and many more. It was shot on location in B.C., Alaska, Austria, Wyoming, Montana and California.

For the Bellingham premiere, Trew was on hand selling their bombproof outerwear. They had an amazing prize drawing for those who bought $100 or more of merchandise from their traveling sales R.V., which spent about a week in town. The prize was a free week of heli-skiing with Skeena Heli-Skiing in B.C. Here's what the Skeena mountains look like:

Gahh...

Not sure who won that drawing, but they are most certainly happy campers right now.

The film itself was incredible. The theme (fairly apparent from the title) is that for many people, mountains are not only an environment for a passionate pursuit or even a career, but the impetus for an entire way of living. These people have organized their entire lives around a simple concept: be in the mountains as much as possible. The commonality of that way of life bonds a tightly-knit community of powder chasers.

The theme is neat and all, but the skiing sets this movie apart from the other releases of the season. Sage's Alaska segment is all time, and you can catch it online here. As event organizer Brett Neste said, "Wait 'till you see Durtschi's closing segment..."

You gotta see it to believe it. The film is now available for download on iTunes - buy it here.

Thanks for the good times, TGR - see you in the hills!
