If you can see Mt. Baker, you are part of The Experience

Table Mountain: 10/6/2013

Route: We parked at Heather Meadows and skinned up the road to Artist Point. From there we headed west to a slope on the northeast shoulder of Table Mountain, where we lapped a mellow, shaded snow field several times. We skied out Artist Point Road.

What were conditions like? Conditions were sunny but bony. There wasn't quite enough snow to skin from the car. As we gained the first hairpin above and southwest of Pan Dome Falls, we put on skins and the snow deepened from there. The meadow we lapped was about a foot deep with three-day old snow - not enough to avoid a couple shark fins, and my bases paid the price. Little ambitious for an early fall pow harvest, but a fun sunny day nonetheless - thanks to James, Dana, Katie and COB. And Nika!

Additional notes: Initially drove up to Yellow Aster Butte, but seeing no snow and all rock, opted for the Mt. Baker backcountry.

Difficulty: Moderate.
