Volunteers needed for Ski to Sea 2015

Ski to Sea is less than a month away, and volunteers are needed to keep the northwest's iconic seven-leg adventure race running smoothly.

For the uninitiated, Ski to Sea is multi-sport relay from the slopes of Mt. Baker to Bellingham Bay. Teams of eight racers split up to take on seven sections, or legs, of the race (two racers are needed for the canoe leg). Traditionally, the legs have gone: xc ski, downhill ski/snowboard, road run, road bike, canoe, xc mountain bike and kayak to the finish line. This year, due to lack of snow on the mountain, the legs are as follows: alpine run, downhill run, road bike, canoe, xc bike, sea kayak, mountain bike.

More than 1,000 volunteers are needed to organize the massive race, which spans 101 miles and includes 500 teams of eight. Volunteering is fun, exciting and greatly appreciated. Each volunteer receives an official race t-shirt, a meal on the day of the race and an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation BBQ, held at Bloedel Donovan Park May 17 from 5–7 p.m.

Anyone interested in volunteering at this year's race can fill out the volunteer form online here. Questions can be directed to Haley Lannom at volunteer@skitosea.com or at (360) 746-8861.
