If you've visited their busy parking lot in the Trader Joe's complex in the last few days, you've seen the signs. Sportsman Chalet is going out of business. On Saturday they posted the following message on their Facebook wall:
"A sad day at the Chalet. We are very sorry to announce that after 41 years of serving Bellingham, we will be closing forever. The store is currently closed for business as we re-price everything for a store wide liquidation sale. We will re-open on Wednesday the 4th at 9:30 am and remain open until everything is sold. Please shop this event early for the best selection as everything will be discounted.
Thank you for being so supportive of us over the many years. We will miss helping you gear-up for your adventures.

A sad day indeed. Sportsman Chalet, one of the best outdoors gear shops in Bellingham, will be sorely missed.
On a positive note, if you have any outdoor gear junkies on your Christmas shopping list, get to Sportsman Chalet on Wednesday.
