What to do during a persistent high pressure system and low avalanche danger? Get a goggle tan on an alpine tour, of course! Three friends and I took an easy tour up to the Mt. Herman saddle, parking at Heather Meadows and walking past Bagley Lakes. The ski down was tracked out, but there were pockets of powder in the shade. Many others had the same idea, and everyone out that day probably missed their safe dark cubicles, judging by their grimaces of un-enjoyment.
