A few friends and I made a dawn-patrol trip to the Coleman Glacier on the northwest shoulder of Mt. Baker. We ran into pro snowboarder Maria DeBari and her friends Amy and Jacqui (not sure if I’m spelling their names right) on the glacier. I had some magazines in my bag because I was planning on a summit photo-op, and the three shredders agreed to join us for a quick photo before they carried on to the summit.
We skied back down to Heliotrope Ridge on a quick layer of windblown fluff. It was a bluebird spring day in the mountains – gorgeous!
It’s easy to tell this is my first time filming with a GoPro, which I attached to my ski pole with a Voilé strap. Between that and an iPhone I got a few snippets from the day, but every shot is shaky and off-axis, and my helmet got in the way of the good stuff. It was a good learning experience.
Next time, we’ll get to the summit!
