Mental Health First Aid Class

A FREE training opportunity for community members in the east Whatcom County area: Mental Health First Aid participants earn a certificate that demonstrates they’ve learned a five-step action plan to help loved ones, colleagues, neighbors and others cope with mental health or substance use problems. The certificate is good for three years and is modeled on the standard principles of first aid so that people without formal healthcare training can provide support until appropriate help is received. The class is offered by the Area Health Education Center for Western Washington as part of it’s mission to strengthen healthcare in rural communities. AHECWW is located at Whatcom Community College.
