Wednesday Night Orienteering in Maple Valley
Jun 26, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$20
How well do you know your parks? Ever get bored with “just running”? Orienteering is a sport that is equal parts running, scavenger hunt, and hiking. An orienteering race is a lot like a trail run except, you have absolutely no idea where you are running to until you start your race. At that point, you are given a map with a series of checkpoints to find and prove you visited by “punching” the checkpoint with a digital timekeeper. Everyone does their own race starting at their own time. You can go as a group, go by yourself, go fast, go slow, look around at the park as you go, or stay locked into your map in a death-grip to try and post the fastest time. It is a sport for anyone and everyone and is one of the cheaper sports you can do. Bring your family to Lake Wilderness on June 26th and start anytime between 5PM and 7PM, or do any of the other Cascade Orienteering events being held routinely each month. Visit cascade.org to pre-register or find info about other orienteering events.
