Celebrate the future Lake Whatcom Park

Celebrate the future Lake Whatcom Park

Ever since Whatcom County Council made the decision to purchase 8,884 acres of land surrounding Lake Whatcom last March, hikers, runners, mountain bikers, equestrians, conservationists and the county parks department have been poring over maps and dreaming big.

Keep an eye out for the spring issue of Mount Baker Experience, which will feature an in-depth article about plans for the park. The issue will be distributed February 7.

In the meantime, don't miss a community celebration of the future park at Bloedel Donovan Park in Bellingham on Saturday, January 25 at 1 p.m.

The family-friendly event will feature a presentation at 2 p.m. to celebrate those who helped make the park happen. Free refreshments from Rocket Donuts, Boundary Bay Brewery and Fork at Agate Bay among other great local businesses will keep folks well-fed and happy. Learn about world-class recreation opportunities and the upcoming trail network. Share in the excitement!

Kids are welcome to bring their bikes and helmets to ride on an awesome, supervised bike course (weather permitting).
